I’ve noticed a substantial increase in hits that my blog has been receiving over the past several months. Initially, my main objective with this blog was to appeal to my friends. However, I’m realizing now that there is actually an outside chance that I have gained a cult following of people who don’t even know who I am.
I take a lot for granted when I write this blog, I make a lot of jokes, and I take for granted that people know whether I am kidding around or being serious. However, for people who have never met me before, obviously they wouldn’t be able to tell the difference.
Even my “About” page doesn’t really say anything about me. So, allow me to take this time to describe myself to people who don’t know who I am.
When I started this blog a little under a year ago, I was six months out of college and really wasn’t doing anything with my life. I was making some spare change by freelancing for an online news site called Patch.com, but other than that, I had a lot of free time. I knew I should be doing something productive, so I started this blog.
I also like being funny and like entertaining people. So, naturally, it was either start a blog or become a mime. I went with the blog.
Since then, I have managed to attain a full-time job as a reporter for a local newspaper, and although I do not have nearly as much free time, I still make a point to blog every weeknight.
I’m 23, I still live with my parents, I’m a college grad, I’m single, I’m a die-hard sports fan, and I like keeping up-to-the-minute tabs on pop culture… mainly so I can make fun of people for liking stupid things.
Most of the stuff I talk about is completely random. More often that not I just sit down at my computer and come up with it on the spot. I have absolutely no theme for this blog, I just want to be able to do whatever the hell I want.
What’s my goal with this blog? No goal, really. I just hope that people actually enjoy it. I’m not looking for recognition, I’m not looking for money, I just want to entertain people. Like a puppet.
I consider myself a very different person in real life than I am in this blog. So people who read this blog before they actually meet me may get a completely different impression of who I am. In fact, I almost consider my blog-self to be a different entity; like a variation or a character of myself. There’s Weingrad, and then there’s Weinblog. Neither entity appeals to girls.
As you can see, I also use self-deprecating humor. Not because I have low self-esteem; I think I’m awesome, actually… but because I just don’t take myself too seriously. My biggest motto in life has always been, “if you can’t laugh at yourself, life is going to seem a whole lot longer than you like,” and I truly believe that.
So, if you like what you see, don’t hesitate to stop by my blog every now and then, take off your shoes, and chill for a bit. You’re more than welcome to stay. And tell your friends.
Alright, the Jets are about to start, and I ain’t about to miss a second of that. LET’S GO JETS BABY!
